Many believe EV’s will be the future of the automotive landscape. So do I. Many also believe Tesla will be the primary winner in this EV future. I’m not so sure about that part. The EV game will not be a zero sum game with Tesla winning and all others losing. Automotive history can be a guide. Karl Benz created the first internal combustion engine in a car. Henry Ford developed the assembly line which ushered in mass production. But neither Ford or Daimler reached the heights of General Motors which capitalized on both inventions. At its peak, GM attained 50% market share in the U.S., and was the world’s largest automaker from 1931 to 2007. This EV game will be a long battle. Tesla will probably be a winner, but I’m guessing not the only one.
