Inside EVs is reporting that Tesla might be moving to a “next level” in vehicle battery development. The company already has gotten the price per kilowatt-hour of their batteries down to $158 today from $258 four years ago. There’s speculation that Tesla is close to reducing this cost even further, down to the $100 per kWh level. There’s a Tesla Battery Day event scheduled in April. And there’s speculation that Tesla will announce major advancements not only in batter cost, but also in improved energy density. If true, the company seems to be accelerating its lead in electric vehicle development over the competition.
