During Tesla’s Battery Day presentation in September of last year, Elon Musk spent a few minutes discussing what might become one of the company’s most important core competencies. It has nothing to do with battery technology.
It’s Manufacturing!
In Musk’s effort to produce 20 million EVs per year, new levels of factory volumetric efficiency and manufacturing speed will be critical and not easily duplicated by competitors. In a recent tweet, Musk even described the factory as the product.
