An interesting article on Medium by Charles Nave describes the collection of technology and automotive companies directly engineering or partnering with entities developing autonomous vehicles. Some companies like Tesla are attempting to own the entire technology stack, from vehicle manufacturing, to the cloud, to semiconductors, to sensing hardware and software. Others like Nvidia are using their autonomous vehicle computing platform to serve a wide range of customers developing autonomous vehicle systems. Surely this ecosystem graphic will change dramatically over the next few years. But it’s amazing this collection relationships is already as complicated as it is this early in the autonomous vehicle development process.
